OVERVIEW: God fulfills his promise that he would bless Esau, and he became the father of the Edomites.
BIG IDEA: God is a promise keeper.
KEY VERSE: Genesis 36:6 (Esau settles in another land)
Esau took his wives, his children, and his entire household, along with his livestock and cattle—all the wealth he had acquired in the land of Canaan—and moved away from his brother, Jacob.
IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I am trustworthy. I have promised eternity for those who follow me, strength for those who need it, and wisdom for those who ask. I keep my promises, so you do not have to hope or wonder if I will follow through. You can count on me. And you don’t have to ask me to be faithful. It’s my character. It’s who I am and what I do.
Do not be discouraged by things that change. Instead, celebrate that you know me—the one who does not change. Do not question whether I am with you. I promised to always be with you. Don’t look for me or wonder where I am. I am here. Rest in me, trust in me, and follow me. You may not always understand why I allow certain things to happen. But you can trust that I am in control and provide what you need at the right moment.
NEXT STEP
What has God promised you? If you have any doubts, ask God to strengthen you. Otherwise, thank God for being a promise keeper and for being faithful.
