BIG IDEATrust God for judgment, and pray for those who hurt you.

KEY VERSE: Romans 12:19 (Paul quotes from Deu 32:35 for instruction when we want revenge)
Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
My children, Shechem’s actions were reprehensible. They were shameful, despicable, and inexcusable. I would have brought judgment on him for his vile act, but Jacob’s sons needed to trust me. You, too, may have been offended or disgraced. Resist the urge to take matters into your own hands. Speak your mind. Stand up for yourself. Establish boundaries for those who hurt you or others. But leave judgment in my hands.

My grace is sufficient for you and in all situations. I understand your anger. You may not think it possible, but your pain is magnified many times over in my life. I don’t want my children hurt in any way, so wait on me and my discipline. Trust me for the timing and extent of punishment. I also want you to do the hard work of letting your heart be open to forgiving and healing. My power is not limited. I can do all things, so allow me to guide you through any painful experience.

NEXT STEP
Pray and seek counsel when you want revenge. It’s OK to be angry, but seek to use the emotion for good. Is there anyone you know seeking vengeance for being wronged? Make yourself available to them and see if they want to talk.
