Genesis 28

Genesis 28:1-22

SUMMARY: Jacob’s dream

OVERVIEWEven though Jacob is on the run, God speaks to him and casts vision.

BIG IDEAGod is always speaking. Be still and listen.

KEY VERSE: Genesis 28:15 (God speaking to Jacob in his dream)
What’s more, I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. One day I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Regardless of your circumstances, I will be with you. You don’t have to pray for me to be present. I am and always will be. Instead, Pray for the ability to hear me and see how I am working in your life. Pray for the courage to obey what I’m asking you to do. Pray for the words to speak or discipline to not say a word. Even if you feel overwhelmed or under pressure, I will be speaking. Stop and listen. And when you stop, take time to worship me. I love your praise. It’s especially pleasing when you fear or doubt because I know you are choosing to trust me in a difficult time.

Nothing will happen to you that catches me off guard. Nothing will surprise me. Rest in that knowledge, and live freely because of that truth. Live joyfully, too. There’s no need to worry. Use your energy to praise me, love and encourage others, and remind people to look to me for working in their lives.

NEXT STEP
