Galatians 4

Galatians 4

Galatians 4:1-31

SUMMARYFree

OVERVIEWWe are no longer slaves to this world or its religious duties or rituals. We can have a relationship with God directly through Christ.

BIG IDEAWe are free in Christ.

KEY VERSEGalatians 4:7 (Paul to the Galatians)
Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I want you to feel special. I want you to feel chosen. I want you to know deep into your soul how I think about you and what is true about you. You don’t have to work to gain my approval or appreciation or blessings. When you accepted my invitation to forgive your sins and lead your life, I adopted you as my child. And as my child, you have all the rights and freedoms and benefits of Christ.

The world’s system operates differently. It is a broken system that allows rulers to manipulate people through laws and service and sometimes humiliation. Our relationship is not like that. You are my child, and that will never change. But what I hope will change is how you view me, and how you see other people, and how you view life and the numerous challenges and obstacles you will face. Don’t look down on people or run from pain. Look up to me, instead. Soak in the truths that I am with you and will give you what you need. Take comfort in my love. Rest. And then follow me.

NEXT STEP
Make a list of at least five earthly benefits of being an heir to an inheritance. How do those translate to being a co-heir with Christ? What does that mean in how you think about your relationship with God? How should that impact how you go about your day?
