Ezekiel 8

Ezekiel 8:1-18

SUMMARYDetestable

OVERVIEWGod shows Ezekiel all the “secret” sins of Israel and promises to deal with them.

BIG IDEANothing is hidden from God.

KEY VERSEEzekiel 8:6 (God to Ezekiel)
“Son of man,” he said, “do you see what they are doing? Do you see the detestable sins the people of Israel are committing to drive me from my Temple? But come, and you will see even more detestable sins than these!”

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I know you recognize the foolishness in thinking you can say or think or do anything beyond my ability to see, hear, or respond. You know in your head that I am all-powerful and everywhere-present. You’ve probably told others that they can’t hide anything from me. Still, in your heart, you try to deceive me by showing your faithfulness to the false, temporary gods of the day. Stop deceiving yourself. You may be fooling some people, but you are not fooling me, and my opinion matters most.

Instead, I invite you to take that same energy and passion you put into sinning or scheming ways to get away with sin and invest it in our relationship. I would love you to have a sustained, focused effort when spending time with me. Stop worrying about doing all the right things, and be with me. Spend time with me and allow my Spirit to strengthen and sustain you. I will give you all you need, but I need you to want to be with me.

NEXT STEP
Don’t play games with God. Be honest and confess any “hidden” sin. God sees all, but he’s ready to forgive all who seek forgiveness.
