Ezekiel 23

Ezekiel 23:1-49

SUMMARYProstitutes

OVERVIEW: God compares Israel and Judah to two adulterous sisters, Oholah and Oholibah. God describes their lust and depravity in great detail and declares his judgment.

BIG IDEA: When we sin, we reject God’s love and believe another’s love is more satisfying.

KEY VERSEEzekiel 23:35 (God to Israel)
And because you have forgotten me and turned your back on me, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: You must bear the consequences of all your lewdness and prostitution.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
The media feeds your flesh. Although you are mine, when you view certain things—intentionally or not—your appetite is triggered, and you have a choice to make. Do you feed your flesh and give it what it craves, or do you feed your soul by turning away from the enticement, allowing me to nourish and satisfy your heart, mind, body, and soul? You are victorious when you cling to me, but the battle is not over.

When seeds of doubt or interest get planted into your mind, the enemy will use them to lure you away from me and to him. He will promise that a tiny glimpse or taste—just a sample size—will not be your end. He’ll promise it will give you satisfaction, allowing you to get on with your day. That is a lie. With the small portion, you’ll hear a “click,” a sound indicating the enemy has attached you to that temptation, and your appetite will grow for it. I can free you from that trap—call on me. But if you seek me from the beginning, I will protect you and guide you. Follow me for true satisfaction.

NEXT STEP
Ask God to search your heart and review your last week. Are there any things you did or said that you need to confess to God or apologize to another person? If so, do that today. If not, ask God to keep you focused on him and to give you the strength and wisdom to remain faithful.
