Exodus 38

Exodus 38:1-31

SUMMARYPay attention

OVERVIEWIsrael followed the myriad of details God provided to construct the Tabernacle, including the altar, the washbasin, and the courtyard.

BIG IDEAGod pays attention to the details in our lives, and we must do the same in following his instructions.

KEY VERSEExodus 39:32 (Israel completed its task)
And so at last the Tabernacle was finished. The Israelites had done everything just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
The details matter in life. I don’t want you only to hear what you want to hear. Listen closely. I want your eyes wide open to see all I want you to see. Don’t ignore what I’m showing you or pretend you can’t see. The scent, the sight, the sound—they all matter. Don’t pick and choose what you experience. Take it all in, and be ready to apply it when I nudge you forward.

I have a plan, and it includes you. Follow me, pay attention, and take time to listen. I will lead you, and if you follow, you’ll enjoy the adventure of a faith-filled life. Your life matters and can play a part in what I’m doing in the world. But don’t live haphazardly. The phrase “just one more” can destroy you. My Spirit will lead you, and I’ve put friends and family in your life to love you. Use all your resources to follow me, but pay attention to the details.

NEXT STEP
Pay close attention to what God is saying. Listen and look for important details. Practice “pausing” today by being still. Either sit quietly and listen or walk slowly and watch. What is God saying?
