Exodus 24

Exodus 24:1-18

SUMMARYGod’s holiness

OVERVIEW: God invited Moses and Israel’s leaders to worship him on the mountain. Then God asked Moses to meet directly with him. Moses entered the cloud covering the mountain and stayed forty days and nights.

BIG IDEA: God’s holiness limits our physical presence, but Jesus gives us direct access to God’s heart.

KEY VERSEExodus 24:7 (Moses reads the law to the people)
Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it aloud to the people. Again they all responded, “We will do everything the Lord has commanded. We will obey.”

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
You don’t understand my holiness. No one does. I am separate from you, and I am far too holy for you to be in my presence. Yet I invite you to come close. Humble yourself and come to me. Come to me and learn. Come to me and worship. Come to me and rest. Bring everything to me. I am an all-powerful, all-knowing God, but I am also your heavenly father, and I have made a way through Jesus for you to be in a relationship with me.

You are as close to me as you want to be. I invite you closer still. Come further into my heart. Practice worshipping me in the busyness of your day. It is possible to multitask with worship. Set aside time exclusively devoted to being still before me, to sing, or to pray. But stay in an attitude of worship while you work, play, or study. If you’re thinking about me or listening to me while you do something else, that is worship. Let’s stay connected all day long.

NEXT STEP
Through Jesus (Hebrews 4:14-16), we can approach God with confidence. Draw near to God today. Pray confidently and without hesitation. Look for an opportunity to pray for someone when they address a need.
