Exodus 12

Exodus 12:1-51

SUMMARYPass over

OVERVIEWGod instructed the Israelites to place the blood from the sacrificed animal on their doorframes, and he would “pass over” their homes, sparing them from the plague. Israel’s faith saved them. The blood was a sign of their faith.

BIG IDEAGod always provides a way of delivery.

KEY VERSEExodus 12:12–13 (God’s deliverance)
On that night I will pass through the land of Egypt and strike down every firstborn son and firstborn male animal in the land of Egypt. I will execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt, for I am the Lord! But the blood on your doorposts will serve as a sign, marking the houses where you are staying. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I have been with you since your beginning, and I’ll be with you until the time you enter my presence. Nothing will change between those days. I will lead you and protect you. Dare to follow me today and have the faith to trust me every day, regardless of the circumstances.

Each day is unique. You may think you know how things ought to go, but don’t try to be me. I made you, and I know what you need and when you need it. Cry out to me—I love when you do—but trust me. Acknowledge my goodness, my authority, and my power. Encourage others to do the same. Just as you will have doubts from time to time, so will those you love or those I send your way. Remind them of who I am and what I’ve done in the past. Inspire them to trust me and then follow me together.

NEXT STEP
Put your faith in God today. In what way is God asking you to trust him? Does it seem either insignificant or too challenging? Don’t overlook the small stuff or be overwhelmed by the large. Follow through on what God is asking you to do today.
