Ecclesiastes 9

Ecclesiastes 9:1-18

SUMMARYGuaranteed

OVERVIEWThose with faith in God have hope for the future; those with only trust themselves must live for today.

BIG IDEADeath comes to all: the good, evil, rich, and poor.

KEY VERSEEcclesiastes 9:3
It seems so wrong that everyone under the sun suffers the same fate. Already twisted by evil, people choose their own mad course, for they have no hope. There is nothing ahead but death anyway.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
The wise and the wicked share a common destiny: their lives will end. There will be a day when you and others go to the grave. That will not be your final resting place—eternity is forever—but it will conclude your time on earth as you know it. The wicked think only of today and what it will take to get ahead. The wise acknowledge their limitations and live in ways that reveal hope for today and the next life.

Be wise and seek me and live according to the ways I have laid out before you. You will be blessed and find peace and fulfillment in your life. But do not live without a smile. Enjoy life to its fullest. Experience all I have for you with great enthusiasm. My plans do not require you to live with a frown. Live with purpose and do so with laughter and dance. Show others the joy found in following me.

NEXT STEP
Have you put together your “bucket list”? If not, put together a list of at least ten things you’d like to do before you die. If you have a list, what can you do today (or this week) to help you towards your goal?
