Deuteronomy 21

Deuteronomy 21:1-23

SUMMARYRespect

OVERVIEW: Because human lives are valuable, God provides laws to protect individuals, marriages, and families.

BIG IDEA: Treat each person with respect.

KEY VERSEPsalm 19:12 (David to God)
How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
You are valuable to me. I love you and will be with you always. Do not let others disrespect you. There may be a time when the wise thing is to ignore others but do not believe what they say. Listen to what I say about you. That is your truth. There may also be times you have to stand up for yourself or others. Do it appropriately, in a way that honors me and does not disrespect others.

I also want you to know that just as I love you and have given you value, the same is true for each person you see today. You will never find a person I do not love. I have created each one. Everyone is not following me, but I am giving them time to turn to me. Do not disrespect those who are difficult to love. Ask for vision to see people as I do and for strength to love them as I do.

NEXT STEP
Treat everyone you see with respect today. Is there someone in your life you do not get along with? Take a moment to pray for that person, and look for a way to encourage or compliment them.
