Deuteronomy 14:1-29

SUMMARYGive faithfully

OVERVIEWDietary laws are listed as well as the reason for the tithe.

BIG IDEAGod is faithful, and we are to give faithfully.

KEY VERSEDeuteronomy 14:22–23c (Moses to Israel)
You must set aside a tithe of your crops—one-tenth of all the crops you harvest each year. Doing this will teach you always to fear the Lord your God.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Give faithfully and generously. The tithe is for you. I do not need your money, but you need to invest it in my kingdom. When you give, you grow. When you give, you see miracles happen. When you give, you can see blessings in a variety of ways. Financial giving supports my work in your church and community and around the world. Giving is a practical way to display your faith. It helps you to remember that I am a God who provides and that I am trustworthy.

If you have not been a faithful giver, begin this week. It’s easy to start next week, but this is your week. It is no coincidence that you’re reading this today. Don’t just dip your foot into the pool of faith. Jump right in and make ripples that can go around the world. I am a faithful giver. I provide even when you’re not expecting it. Enjoy the discipline of faithful giving. It will change you.

NEXT STEP
Evaluate your giving over the last two years and give yourself a grade. Strive for consistency, not as a way to earn God’s love, but as a disciplined way to say “thank you.”
