Deuteronomy 12

Deuteronomy 12:1-32

SUMMARYStay focused

OVERVIEW: Moses shares God’s instructions to Israel in how they are to worship—and how they are not to worship—upon entering the promised land.

BIG IDEAOnce God provides, don’t get lazy. Stay focused on who God is and what he’s called you to do.

KEY VERSEDeuteronomy 12:28 (Moses to Israel)
Be careful to obey all these regulations I am giving you, so that it may always go well with you and your children after you, because you will be doing what is good and right in the eyes of the Lord your God.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I am at work in your life and around the world. I am always at work, drawing you and others to me. This is my usual mode of operation. It is who I am and what I do. Don’t become bored by my activity. Don’t yawn when you hear another’s faith story. Let every answer to prayer and God-movement in your life humble you. Hear each story as if it were your first. Focus on me and my love for the world and celebrate my activity.

The world will always surround you with temptations, and shortcuts, and new ways to follow me. Make it your priority to focus on my voice and work in and around you, not the latest or greatest way to know me. Fall in love with me, not the tool. Take care to remove anything that prevents you from seeing or hearing my actions. Look to me and follow me. I will continue to teach you how to live. Be careful not to miss me while you spend time with me.

NEXT STEP
Identify one potential distraction or temptation in your life and remove it. Pray for wisdom, put together a plan, and enlist friends for support.
