Colossians 4:1-18

SUMMARYOpportunities

OVERVIEWPaul challenges the Colossians to live wisely and to breathe life into others before giving final instructions.

BIG IDEAPray as you watch and wait for God’s opportunities.

KEY VERSEColossians 4:5-6 (Paul’s reminder that God is always at work in the world)
Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Wherever you are, you will find me. Wherever you’re going, I am there. I am everywhere present and always at work in the hearts and minds of people. Some ignore me or shut me out, but I continue to make myself available to all. Join me in my work. Look for my activity where you are. Listen for opportunities in conversations or jump in and change the direction of the conversation if I lead you to do so. An interruption may not happen often, but be ready and alert. Don’t miss out!

You are my witness, whether you choose to be or not. People watch you and notice how you treat them and others around you. Don’t be overwhelmed or intimidated by that. You don’t have to be perfect. But don’t be blind to that reality, either. Instead, be prayerful. Be thankful for your life you for our relationship. Pray that others would come to know me so that they, too, can find the grace and peace I have given you.

NEXT STEP
Ask someone who knows you well how you act in public towards store employees or restaurant workers or other drivers or commuters. Are you acting wisely and showing grace, or do you need to improve in those areas?
