KEY VERSEColossians 2:6-7 (Paul’s charge to the Colossians)
And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I have rooted you in Christ. Your identity is now in him. From this foundation, continue to grow and be strengthened and overflow with thankfulness. You no longer have to work, hoping you will please me. I am pleased. You are rooted in Christ, and that will not change. So don’t look for the latest or greatest way to grow your relationship with me. Simply look to me. Seek me. Learn from me. Practice what I teach you and follow me where I lead. Your obedient life will do more for your growth than any book or seminar.

Think about where you were and what I’ve done on your behalf. You were dead in your sins, but I made you alive. I forgave you and canceled all the charges against you. You were under the power and authority of the enemy, but I disarmed the enemy and defeated him at the cross. You are free. Rejoice in what I’ve given you. Live with gratitude for your new life. Follow me and experience more than you could imagine.

NEXT STEP
Evaluate the rules you live by and the disciplines you follow. Do them because you like them or because they encourage you or strengthen you. Don’t do them to please God or to earn his favor. God already receives and loves you because of the work of Christ. Live today with gratitude for all Christ has done.
