Amos 6:1-14

BIG IDEATrust in God, not the gods of comfort and pleasure.

KEY VERSEAmos 6:1 (God to Israel)
What sorrow awaits you who lounge in luxury in Jerusalem, and you who feel secure in Samaria! You are famous and popular in Israel, and people go to you for help.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I want you to be confident. I want you to feel secure. I want you to look fear in the face and stare it down. I want you to wake up with great expectations and fall asleep in peace. I want you to feel and share hope throughout the day. I want this and more for you, but I am the only one who can provide that.

Do not look to your skills or wisdom or resume for security. Do not puff out your chest because some or many seek you out. Do not review the abundance of your inventory or trust in your insurance. All of those things can be gone in an instant. It can all disappear. I, however, am eternal and trustworthy. I am also loving and extend my hand to you. Receive my love and my offer. Don’t trust your wealth or wisdom. Trust in me, instead. You can be a person of influence, but surrender to me and allow me to direct your path.

NEXT STEP
Take time to reflect on the strength of your faith. Is it built on the truth of God and his word or your efforts and abilities? Ask God to reveal any blind spots and commit to following God today.
