SUMMARY: Tempted
OVERVIEW: After Jesus fasted forty days and nights, Satan tempted him. Jesus responded to each temptation by quoting God’s word as his authority.

But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Experiencing temptation does not mean you are a terrible person. Temptation is an opportunity to obey. Obedience is an expression of your love for me. Whether you fail or succeed, I love you. Nothing can ever make me love you any more or any less. But I want you to succeed. I want you to make choices for life, not destruction. Giving in to temptation doesn’t only hurt you; it hurts those around you, too. Rely on my spirit. Rely on my word. Rely on other believers who can help you.
Temptation is not to be ignored or minimized. With me, you can overcome it, but be prepared. Have a plan that includes acknowledging me and my word. Have a plan that provides support from trusted friends. My word is the truth, and it is your greatest weapon. Remember, I am more powerful than the evil one, and my spirit lives in you.
