OVERVIEWGod disciplines the judges for defending the unjust when they should have been protecting the weak and fatherless.

BIG IDEALead with love and care.

KEY VERSEPsalm 82:2–3
How long will you hand down unjust decisions by favoring the wicked? Give justice to the poor and the orphan; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Do not strive to be a leader. Focus on being a follower. Follow me and allow me to put you in places of leadership. When I’ve given you a leadership responsibility, continue following me, but learn all you can about what it means to lead with skill, grace, and care. I have set an example for you in how you are to live and lead. Read and re-read how Jesus led others. Ask me to help you, and I will.

Do not be like those who call themselves leaders but use their position for their benefit. They do not care about using the skills and talents I gave them to shepherd others or help the oppressed. Instead, they focus on gorging themselves while ignoring the needs of others. These men and women know nothing about the life I want for them. I want to use them and their positions for good and influence. I want to do the same with you. Follow me.

NEXT STEP
How would others you lead evaluate your leadership? Whether it’s a child, student, family member or work colleague, are you leading with integrity, love, and care? Ask them for an evaluation. Ask them to reveal what you are are doing well and how you can improve as a leader.
