Jonah 2

Jonah 2:1-10

SUMMARYJonah repents

OVERVIEWJonah recognizes his desperate condition and turns back to God.

BIG IDEAThere is always hope in the Lord.

KEY VERSEJonah 2:2 (Jonah’s prayer)
He said, “I cried out to the Lord in my great trouble, and he answered me. I called to you from the land of the dead, and Lord, you heard me!”

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I know you will ignore me. I know you will pretend you can’t see me or hear me. I know you will disobey me. I know you will deny me. I know these things because I am God and because you’ve already done those things. Despite that, I invite you to draw near to me. I invite you to return to me or draw closer. I invite you to follow me for an adventure that will inspire you and change others’ lives.

I am everything you need. Stop looking for someone or something else. I am right here. Stop searching for a shortcut to get ahead. You may find one, but it will send you backward. Put all your energy and effort into what matters most. Forget what others think. Jump in with both feel and boldly proclaim, “Salvation comes from the Lord!” Your friends and family and each person you meet need to know that. And when you live out that truth, you will find peace, joy, and much satisfaction.

NEXT STEP
It’s never too late to return to God. Have you avoided God or rejected him or disobeyed him in any way? Turn to him now.
