SUMMARY: Grace
OVERVIEW: Jesus teaches a parable on grace. Grace freely distributed seems unfair, and for that, we should be grateful; no one deserves grace.
BIG IDEA: God’s grace is more than we could want or imagine.
KEY VERSE: Matthew 20:14–15 (Vineyard owner to workers)
Take your money and go. I wanted to pay this last worker the same as you. Is it against the law for me to do what I want with my money? Should you be jealous because I am kind to others?
IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Don’t be too proud to accept from me what you don’t deserve. Our relationship isn’t about what you can do to earn my love and acceptance. Let me save you some wasted energy: you cannot earn my love. Just receive the love and the salvation and the blessings I have for you.
Each day, receive my love and see yourself the way I see you. I did not make any mistakes when I created you. Be grateful for your life and what you have. And I am not done yet. I am transforming you inside for powerful living.
Remember, my grace is for everyone. No one can match my generosity. Don’t be jealous of how I have blessed others. Just trust that I understand the big picture in ways you do not. No one deserves eternal life or an abundant life on earth, but I offer it to everyone. Receive it humbly and gladly. May it motivate you to sing, celebrate, dance, and share your joy and newfound blessing with others. Be a grace giver and enjoy seeing others happily surprised by my grace.
NEXT STEP
Think of someone you know who has recently received some sort of blessing. Make time to celebrate with them and give thanks to God.
