2 Timothy 4. be prepared

2 Timothy 4:1-22

SUMMARYBe prepared

OVERVIEWPaul reminds Timothy of the eternal blessings of living for Jesus, even when the world rejects him and God’s word.

BIG IDEALive with confidence because you know Jesus is with you.

KEY VERSE2 Timothy 4:2 (Paul to Timothy)
Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Don’t be surprised when spiritual challenges arrive, but be ready. Don’t be shocked that many, who once sought you out for wisdom and counsel, turn their backs to you and ignore you. A day will come when people who appeared to have a respect for me and my word will run from my teaching and towards those who tell them what they want to hear. It will be a sad day, but don’t let it surprise you. Instead, continue to walk with me, live for me, and seek me.

Pray for those who turn from me. As long as they’re alive on earth, they have a chance to live with me for eternity. Pray their eyes and hearts would be open and that they recognize Jesus is the way, truth, and the life. But in the midst of this, be strong. Stay in spiritual shape so that you are always ready to correct, rebuke, and encourage. There is no vacation from your faith. I want you to rest, and I want you to have seasons of quiet. But even then, be ready to share the hope that is within you.

NEXT STEP
Encourage other Christians today with reminders that Jesus is with them, even if they feel overwhelmed or tired and defeated. Help them know their time on earth matters, and that they are investing in eternity.
