SUMMARYFan

OVERVIEWWe are to fan into flame God’s gift within us, so that we live empowered by God’s Spirit, not fearful or timid.

BIG IDEARepresent Christ today in how you live, think, and speak.

KEY VERSE2 Timothy 1:6-7 (Paul to Timothy)
This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I have given you more than you can imagine. My Spirit is within you, and you have gifts to honor me and serve the world. Exercise those gifts. Flex your spiritual muscles and allow me to work through you. I’ve equipped you for ministry with my power. Don’t let it grow cold through inactivity. Use it and watch it grow. Be bold in service for me, but let your zeal be expressed by my love and harnessed through self-control. In other words, love people in appropriate ways—don’t be a bully.

I’ve given you the gift of the gospel to share and to equip others to do the same. You have tools to bring hope to the world. Don’t shrink back, afraid of what others will think or say. They may ignore you or even laugh, but they don’t realize what they need. Or they are suppressing their hunger within. Continue to love, care, and step out in faith as I lead. Pray other believers will do the same and that many will turn to me, so that they may know hope and find purpose. I love you.

NEXT STEP
What is something you can do this week to “fan into flame” God’s gift within you? Spend time with God (as you are now), meet with another believer whose faith you admire, read a Christian book, watch a YouTube video, or something else? Try to do one thing each week for the next few weeks.
