SUMMARY: God’s victory
OVERVIEW: David’s song of praise to God; it’s nearly identical to Psalm 18.
BIG IDEA: God is a rock who rescues and delivers.
KEY VERSE: 2 Samuel 22:32–33 (David’s proclamation)
For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock? God is my strong fortress, and he makes my way perfect.
IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I am your rock, I am your fortress, and I am your deliverer. You can lean on me and count on me. I will be with you and provide everything you need. Remember me when you are struggling, and remember me when you are victorious. Trust me and follow me today, through dark times and good times. I will give you the strength you need, so don’t look to anyone or anything else. Keep your eyes on me and follow me.
I will light your path when the darkness surrounds you. Don’t allow fear to control you. What concerns you today? What causes you to stir in the night or fidget during the day? Give it to me. Allow me to guide you. I have things for you to do and accomplish, and worrying is not one of those. Shift your focus. Instead of being overwhelmed by the problem, be in awe of my might and power. Call on me with confidence, for I am listening.
NEXT STEP
Write down your top worries and the reasons they make you anxious. Read through 2 Samuel 22 and identify verses that address each of those reasons. Write the verse number next to (or over) each worry. Whenever any of these worries come into your mind, read the corresponding verse. Remind yourself why you can be confident in God.
