KEY VERSE2 Kings 23:25 (Josiah described)
Never before had there been a king like Josiah, who turned to the Lord with all his heart and soul and strength, obeying all the laws of Moses. And there has never been a king like him since.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Don’t sit back and be content as my child. I want you to enjoy that status, and I want you to be motivated, knowing I have adopted you as one of my own. But our relationship is not for your comfort. I want my followers to live differently. I want them to say “no” to the sin in their life and temptation. And when they fail, and they—you—will, I want them to ask for forgiveness and get a fresh start.

What are you holding onto that is not healthy for you? What do you cling to or put your trust in that only weighs you down? You may have to say “no” to current relationships. I don’t want that to be necessary, but if your friends or the places you visit continue to hinder your growth, or distract you, then follow Josiah’s example and remove them. Today is a new day. Choose me from amongst your many choices. Follow me and live by the power of my Spirit.

NEXT STEP
Is there anything evil in your life that you need to discard? Anything hindering your relationship with God? Identify it and get rid of it. Then replace it. Fill the former place in your home, heart, or mind with something that brings honor and glory to God. Share your commitment with a friend and celebrate! Then ask him or her to hold you accountable.
