KEY VERSE2 Chronicles 9:22–23 (Solomon’s wealth and splendor)
So King Solomon became richer and wiser than any other king on earth. Kings from every nation came to consult him and to hear the wisdom God had given him.

I am with you, so be at rest. Have peace in your heart and mind, knowing that I have numbered every hair on your head and am aware of your needs before you are. I also know what makes you anxious. Don’t waste your time focusing on things you cannot control. Work hard, pray fervently, and thank me for the results. I know what you need and what you want. Obey me as I lead, and allow me to provide your daily bread.

Hard work is noble, but don’t overwork to the extent that it harms you physically and relationally. Why do you overexert yourself? What drives you? Do you have an unhealthy appetite for money? I can just as quickly provide wealth for you as I did for Solomon. Are you overly concerned with pleasing others? I love you and approve you—whose opinion can carry more weight? It’s OK to enjoy material things, to have a good reputation amongst others, and to dream big, but don’t do it at the expense of our relationship. Lean on me and allow me to provide. Follow me and enjoy life as I intended.

Thank God for all of the tangible ways he provides for you, and pray that he would also grow you in wisdom, character, and love for humanity.
