OVERVIEWKing Amaziah honored God most of the time, but he had a convenient faith. He obeyed God before going into battle, yet he brought home idols to worship.

BIG IDEAHave an “all-in” faith, not a convenient one.

KEY VERSE2 Chronicles 25:2 (Description of Amaziah)
Amaziah did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight, but not wholeheartedly.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Everyone grows and matures at a different pace. I didn’t create you to be a clone or to act mindlessly. I want you to be the best “you” possible. Don’t be consumed with pursuing perfection. Focus on me. Learn to look for me and to listen to my voice. Sometimes I will speak to you through others, so pay attention. The Holy Spirit will help you, and what you hear will be consistent with what I’ve written in my word. That’s why this time you are now spending with me is wise.

Obedience, however, is a big deal. Don’t pick and choose when you obey. Be all-in. Don’t live one way around a particular group of people and then live differently around Christian friends. Be the same person. If you’re not ready to commit to me, be honest with me and others. I’ll wait. I’m here and ready when you are. But don’t play games. Love and follow me with all of your heart, and I will lead you and empower you. Let’s do this together.

NEXT STEP
Reflect on your life. Are you aware of areas in which you continue to struggle or areas you refuse to change? If so, ask God for forgiveness, and then ask a friend to pray for you. Focus on one challenging area and commit today to regularly choose God’s path when you would typically select your way.
