BIG IDEASeek true counsel. Don’t just hear what you want to hear.

KEY VERSE2 Chronicles 10:8 (Rhoboam’s foolishness)
But Rehoboam rejected the advice of the older men and instead asked the opinion of the young men who had grown up with him and were now his advisers.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
If you wait to hear from me, I will guide you. I will not always speak in an audible voice, and if I do, it may not be at a volume you anticipate. Be still and listen. You do not have to be in a soundproof room. If you’re tuned in, you can still hear me amongst the horns and construction. Seek me, and I will provide direction. Sometimes I will speak directly to you; other times, I will use my word or the Holy Spirit. I may even communicate through your friends or circumstances.

Test everything you hear with what I’ve declared in my word. Let the Bible be your constant, for it is reliable today and forever. But don’t bounce around from person to person, waiting until you hear what you want to hear. It is good to seek counsel from multiple sources, but only if your intentions are healthy. Obey me and find fulfillment. Follow your desires, and you will be frustrated.

NEXT STEP
Give careful consideration to those from whom you seek counsel. Are they wise, or are you just talking with people who agree with you?
