1 Thessalonians 3. Encouragement

1 Thessalonians 3:1-13

SUMMARYEncouragement

OVERVIEWThe Thessalonians’ faith inspires Paul, and so he faithfully prays for them, and he sends Timothy to encourage them.

BIG IDEAFaithfully pray for those you care about.

KEY VERSE1 Thessalonians 3:12 (Paul’s blessing)
And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Communicate regularly with those you care about. Give them updates about how you are, and ask them how you can pray for them. People care about you, and staying in touch in small ways sends a big message. Pray against the enemy’s schemes in the lives of those you love. Pray for their protection. Pray that their faith would be substantial, regardless of their circumstances. When you are unable to visit, send notes or messages, or send a gift with someone else who will see them.

Similarly, I want you to stand firm in your faith. Trust me. Don’t just proclaim that you believe, but put active faith in what I’ve said, in my character, and my love for you. Focus on what is true, even when things may be chaotic around you. I do not change, so don’t let the events of your life distract or discourage you. May you be strengthened, and may you live holy lives for me.

NEXT STEP
Encourage someone’s faith today: send them an anonymous letter of gratitude, give a gift card, send a text message, give public praise, take someone out for coffee, invite them over for dinner, etc.
