1 Samuel 7:1-17

SUMMARYRevival

OVERVIEWIsrael got rid of their false Gods, confessed their sin, and recommitted to God. God gave Israel victory over the Philistines.

BIG IDEASpiritual victory precedes physical victory.

KEY VERSE1 Samuel 7:3 (Samuel’s instructions)
Then Samuel said to all the people of Israel, “If you want to return to the Lord with all your hearts, get rid of your foreign gods and your images of Ashtoreth. Turn your hearts to the Lord and obey him alone; then he will rescue you from the Philistines.”

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Life is never a dead end. There is always a way back to me. No matter where you are or what you’ve done, you can find me. Call on me, and I will welcome you home. I will revive your heart and renew your mind. I will strengthen your body and empower you to take steps of faith away from the places you should not go and towards the people with whom you need to confess or apologize.

When you return to me, I forgive your past. And I have promised to guide you so I will be in your future. The only thing left is what you do and how you think today. Give me your time and attention. Surrender your heart and lift your eyes to heaven. Soak in all I want to say and show you and follow me. Go public with your faith and let friends and family know I am now your priority in life.

NEXT STEP
Is there anything you need to change or get rid of in your life? Stop trying harder to be good and ask God to forgive you, to give you the strength to choose him instead of what distracts you, and ask a friend to pray for you and hold you accountable.
