1 Samuel 29

1 Samuel 29:1-11

SUMMARYProtected

OVERVIEWThe Philistines refused to allow David to fight with them. God protected David from having to fight against his people.

BIG IDEAWe need God to protect us from ourselves. Left to ourselves, we are prone to make bad choices.

KEY VERSEPsalm 103:10 (God’s protection)
He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I am always with you, even when you turn away from me. When you choose to go another way, I will draw you back to me, protecting you from enemies, temptations, and from yourself. If you continue to resist, I will allow you to go your own way. But I will still be with you, and you will always be welcome to come back. But don’t run from me. Those who seek independence find freedom in a relationship with me.

Turn to me each day. Choose to walk with me and discover the plans I have for you. Take advantage of the ways I want to equip you to make an eternal impact in the world. Your life can forever change those you know and love and those I want to introduce to you. But don’t try to do it on your own. I’ve given you a healthy mind and body, but allow me to continue to mold and shape them, so they function in optimum capacity.

NEXT STEP
Pray for God’s protection, that he will protect you from yourself. Ask God to reveal any blind spots you may have in how you live or think. Discuss with a trusted friend as well.
