1 Samuel 11

1 Samuel 11:1-15

SUMMARYConfirmed

OVERVIEWSaul’s leadership is confirmed. While others gave in or gave up, Saul led Israel to victory. And when the people suggested that Saul take revenge on his detractors, he redirected their focus back on God.

BIG IDEABe led and empowered by the Spirit of God, not your emotion.

KEY VERSE1 Samuel 11:6 (Saul responds to the threat from the Ammonites)
Then the Spirit of God came powerfully upon Saul, and he became very angry.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Weep and be angered over the sin in the world. I want you to get riled up and gather a team to charge the enemy. Just don’t do it apart from me. Wait on me, and let me lead you. Let me channel your anger. Allow me to sift through the emotions you feel so that you focus on the core issue rather than getting sidetracked by a host of minor problems. Stand up for what’s right, mobilize others to do the same, and faithfully follow me.

I want to confirm your faith, even in a crisis. Learn to turn to me when things get tough. Everyone has their means to comfort themselves when stressed or angry or confused. I want to be your only source. I want to be the one you turn to because I know what you need. I also know what you don’t need. Turn to me so that I can equip you.

NEXT STEP
Before rushing in to defend a person or attack an issue, stop and pray. Seek God’s wisdom and strategy. Is there an issue or person currently challenging you that you should pray about now?
