SUMMARYSolomon crowned

OVERVIEWAdonijah, Solomon’s brother and David’s son, declared that he would be king, but David makes Solomon the next king.

BIG IDEADon’t be intimidated by others. Stand firm and do the right thing.

KEY VERSE1 Kings 1:52 (Solomon to Adonijah)
Solomon replied, “If he proves himself to be loyal, not a hair on his head will be touched. But if he makes trouble, he will die.”

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
People will hurt you and disrespect you. People will say and do inappropriate things. And these same individuals and more will watch how you respond. They will want to see how far they can push you. They will want to know if your faith is real. It does not mean you won’t make mistakes, but it is essential to know people want to see if I’m real. And they’re looking to you!

The weight of the world or any person’s salvation is not on your shoulders. Let me carry that for you. But I want you to see this as an opportunity to display my power in your life. Let the world see that a Spirit-filled life is compelling. Let them know it’s for real and that it’s for them. Be firm and bold in how you respond to those who mistreat you but treat everyone with respect.

NEXT STEP
Is someone attempting to intimidate you or treating you unkindly? Follow through in a way that is respectful and honors God. Address them directly. Ask if they have any issues with you. If they say “no,” tell them you do not appreciate the things they’ve said or done (be specific). If they say “yes,” listen to their complaints. Apologize for anything that you may have done, and correct any misunderstanding they may have.
