KEY VERSE1 John 3:18 (John’s fervent reminder)
Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Don’t say that you love me and others when you don’t. It is so much more healthy when you are honest. If you are frustrated by how you live and want to change, I can help. But if you are content to play games and pretend, there’s nothing I can do. I know you want more from life and our relationship, otherwise, why would you spend this time with me? Humble yourself before me. I can work with broken, contrite people. It’s the hard-hearted who dig their heels in that waste their time.

Love is the defining characteristic of what is going on in your heart. It shows your true colors. Don’t merely say you love me—show me by loving others. When others ask what a follower of Jesus looks like, let them point to you. And don’t throw up your hands in defeat, declaring “it’s too hard.” It is too hard on your own. Instead, surrender to me—moment by moment—and allow me to help you. Don’t try to be perfect. Focus on your next step.

NEXT STEP
Evaluate your heart and motives regularly. Is there anyone you find it difficult to love? Acknowledge your need for help to God and invite the Hoy Spirit to lead you to love that person today and tomorrow. Begin by praying for the person and ask God to give you 1-2 practical ways you can show love to that person.
