1 Corinthians 7

1 Corinthians 7. marriage

1 Corinthians 7:1-40

SUMMARYMarriage

OVERVIEWPaul gives instructions on marriage and the single life.

BIG IDEAWe are called to love and serve the Lord. If you can do that as a single person, do it. If you choose to get married, serve the Lord together. Whatever you do, serve the Lord.

KEY VERSE1 Corinthians 7:17 (Paul to the Corinthians)
Each of you should continue to live in whatever situation the Lord has placed you, and remain as you were when God first called you. This is my rule for all the churches.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Marriage is a calling. Singleness is as well. If you get married, remain married and love and serve one another and me together. If you stay single, focus all your efforts on me and in building my kingdom. Regardless, I want to be the center of your lives, and that’s a good thing. When you seek me, you will find victory, blessing, richness, laughter, and peace. You will have healthier relationships and be more productive. You will be someone others want to be around. They will find me in you.

Your life is no longer your own. When you invited me to lead your life, I took you up on that. So don’t worry or stress about your future or whether you are single or married. Look to me today, and trust me. I know your future because I am there. Before you get to your future, live for me today. Love those I’ve placed in your life and receive all I have for you.

NEXT STEP
Thank God for your current status as a single or married person. Ask God to help you be the man or woman he called you to be and focus on loving and serving him and pursuing purity in all your relationships.
