1 Chronicles 17:1-27

SUMMARYI will

OVERVIEWGod promises David what he will do, including establishing his throne forever. David responds in humility with praise.

BIG IDEAIdentify God’s promises and cling to them.

KEY VERSE1 Chronicles 17:16–17 (David’s prayer)
Then King David went in and sat before the Lord and prayed, “Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? And now, O God, in addition to everything else, you speak of giving your servant a lasting dynasty! You speak as though I were someone very great, O Lord God!

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Just as I provided for David and his ancestors, I want to provide for you. I want you to live with the security and confidence that I am with you and will supply everything you need. I will always guide you, so when you feel lost or out of sorts, look to me. If you’ve gotten away from me or off the path I laid out, I will redirect you. I promised to be with you always, so don’t despair. But seek me and follow me and enjoy my blessings.

There is no one like me, and my promises are for you. If our relationship seems “too good to be true,” get ready for more. I have much that I want to show you and give you. But I need you to trust me. Even when my way is difficult or seemingly impossible, I will provide a way. Don’t be distracted by other offers or by criticism. Follow me and find freedom, joy, and peace.

NEXT STEP
God promised David his ancestors would lead the nation, and David expressed gratitude. What promises of God can you live by and claim? If none come to mind, Google “promises of God” and select one or two that are meaningful to you. Thank God for them and review them when you feel down or discouraged.
